The system is a network of trails and off-road paths that meanders around and connects almost the whole community, functioning kind of like a town’s sidewalk. The goal of the pathway is to allow visitors to appreciate the natural beauty of their town at their leisure, whether by walking, jogging, cycling, or even on horseback, and get acquainted with other residents in the process. Every year, a Pathways Run is held by the town’s Parks and Recreation Department.
Los Altos Hills offers plenty of activities and attractions for visitors to enjoy. The Los Altos History Museum, located in one of the few remaining apricot orchards of Santa Clara Valley, is a great place to learn about the town’s history and culture. The museum is open every Thursday through Sunday from noon to 4pm, and admission is always free. Another historical town relic is the Westwind Community Barn, which was extensively renovated in 2009. This state-of-the-art horse boarding and training facility, located on 15 acres of open space adjacent to the Byrne Preserve, is open to the public for dogs to roam and horses to graze.
The dining and nightlife scene in Los Altos Hills is also surprisingly vibrant for a town of its size. There are plenty of great restaurants to choose from, and the locals love to get together for drinks and conversation at one of the many pubs and wine bars.
